This 7-night train-based journey blends Cairo’s rich Islamic heritage, the awe of Ancient Egypt’s monuments, and the tranquillity of a Nile cruise. Begin in Cairo with visits to the blessed shrines of Sayyidnā al-Ḥusayn, Sayyida Nafīsa, and Sayyida Zaynab, and prayers at the historic mosques of Al-Azhar, Ibn Ṭūlūn, and Sultan Ḥassan. Then step back thousands of years as you marvel at the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Saqqara Step Pyramid, and the treasures of Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Aswan, with the option to include the majestic Abu Simbel.
Travelling by sleeper train from Cairo to Luxor and again from Aswan to Cairo adds both efficiency and adventure, saving two hotel nights while offering a memorable group experience in cosy two-berth cabins with meals. Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will receive a VIP reception and be warmly welcomed by our representative, who will provide attentive assistance through the immigration process for a seamless arrival. You will then be escorted to your private group transportation, where complimentary water and light snacks will be provided, before transferring comfortably to your Cairo hotel for overnight accommodation.
After breakfast at the Cairo hotel and check-out, enjoy a full-day guided tour exploring Egypt’s most iconic landmarks. Visit the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, followed by a journey to Memphis and the Imhotep Museum to discover the origins of ancient Egyptian civilisation.
Lunch is available at a local restaurant (optional). Later, enjoy visits to traditional papyrus, perfume, and cotton workshops, offering insight into Egypt’s artisanal heritage.
In the evening, there is an optional opportunity to attend the Sound & Light Show at the Pyramids. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant before returning to the Cairo hotel for overnight accommodation.
After breakfast at the Cairo hotel, begin the day with a guided visit to the Egyptian Museum, home to one of the world’s most important collections of ancient artefacts.
Continue to some of Cairo’s most significant Islamic landmarks, including the Sultan Hassan Mosque and the Ibn Tulun Mosque, followed by visits to the revered shrines of Sayyida Nafisa and Sayyida Zaynab.
Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant (optional). The afternoon continues with a visit to the Citadel of Saladin and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, offering panoramic views across historic Cairo.
In the evening, enjoy time at leisure in Khan al-Khalili, with the option to relax at traditional tea houses and soak in the atmosphere of the old bazaar. Later, you will be transferred to Cairo railway station to board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan, with dinner served on board and overnight accommodation provided.
After breakfast on the train and check-out, begin your exploration of Aswan with visits to the Aswan High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the beautifully situated Temple of Philae.
You will then board your Nile cruise vessel, where lunch will be served on board. Later in the day, there is an optional visit to a traditional Nubian Village. In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing felucca sail around Elephantine Island, offering scenic views along the Nile.
Dinner and overnight accommodation will be on board the cruise in Aswan.
For those who wish, an early morning optional excursion to the magnificent Abu Simbel Temples offers a truly unforgettable experience, showcasing one of ancient Egypt’s most awe-inspiring monuments. Return to the cruise for a relaxed buffet breakfast on board as the ship begins its scenic journey along the Nile.
Later, arrive at Kom Ombo Temple, dramatically set on the riverbank and uniquely dedicated to the gods Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, the falcon-headed god. After exploring the temple, continue sailing towards Edfu, enjoying the changing Nile landscapes along the way.
Lunch will be served on board during the sail. In the evening, enjoy dinner on board and unwind as the cruise docks in Edfu for overnight accommodation.
Begin the day with an early morning visit to the Temple of Edfu, one of Egypt’s best-preserved ancient temples, dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus. Return to the cruise for a relaxed buffet breakfast on board as the vessel sets sail towards Esna.
Lunch will be served on board while navigating the Nile, before experiencing the passage through the Esna Lock, an interesting highlight of the journey. Continue sailing onwards to Luxor, where you will disembark to visit the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex and the atmospheric Luxor Temple, two of ancient Egypt’s most impressive religious sites.
Return to the cruise for dinner and overnight accommodation on board in Luxor.
An early morning optional hot air balloon experience is available, offering breathtaking views over Luxor and the Nile at sunrise. Return to the cruise for a buffet breakfast on board, followed by disembarkation.
Continue with guided visits to the West Bank of Luxor, including stops at the Colossi of Memnon, the elegant Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, and the renowned Valley of the Kings, home to the tombs of Egypt’s ancient pharaohs.
Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant (optional). Later, you will be transferred to Luxor railway station to board the train back to Cairo, with dinner and overnight accommodation provided on board.
Arrive in Cairo in the morning. Depending on your flight schedule, you may join Jumuʿah prayers at either Al-Azhar Mosque or Al-Ḥusayn Mosque if you wish or spend the morning independently before transferring to the airport for your onward journey.
